How to Manifest Something | Is Neville Goddard a Scam? An Honest Take

If you're familiar with the world of Neville Goddard, then you'll already be familiar with his philosophy of “living in the end” and using the power of imagination to create reality. But if you’ve tried his techniques, at some point you may have gotten frustrated or wondered if this whole thing is a scam.

If that resonates so far, this article is for you.

Goddard’s core ideas are not a scam. The notion that our thoughts and beliefs shape our experiences is now widely accepted in fields like psychology and neuroscience.

However, the world has changed dramatically since his time. We're fast-paced and technology-driven nowadays. You might find it difficult to maintain the level of focus, faith, and emotional intensity required to effectively “live in the end” and access subconscious programming as he teaches.

Here's what to do if you're frustrated.

You might hear people say, "stop over-complicating it. Just believe and you can achieve."

To some extent, this is true. I've had a few manifestations happen for absolutely zero effort. Those times, just had a thought pop into my head like "it would be nice if..." and within weeks I:

  • Manifested multiple SPs and relationships

  • Manifested conversations or contact

  • Manifested a company sponsorship for my hobby, basically getting paid to do what I like

  • Manifested vacations, trips, etc.

Because you're already a 24/7 manifesting machine and you don't actually have to try so hard to manifest successfully.

Like with the ladder exercise, falling asleep imagining a ladder is not hard at all. And it works most of the time. Even my skeptic partner did it and literally was forced to climb a ladder within 6 days.

Again: you shouldn't have to "TRY" to manifest anything.

But there's a caveat. Some things will be harder to achieve, and it all depends on where you're at in your life and your growth. These things I thought about were "nice to haves", they weren't "must haves". If you keep finding yourself having to "try" really hard, here's some grounding for Neville Goddard’s original teachings:

You can incorporate evidence-based practices to systematically rewire the subconscious mind. This means identifying and eliminating limiting beliefs at their source. Rather than simply overriding negative thoughts with positive affirmations, this approach digs deeper to uproot the core beliefs that sabotage our self-concepts. It's a new approach called scientific manifesting.

So here's how to do it:

Step 1:

Take a few moments to think about an area of your life where you feel stuck or dissatisfied. It could be your career, relationships, health, or finances.

Step 2:

Now, imagine that you have a time machine that can transport you back to any point in your past. Reflect on your life experiences and identify a specific moment or event that may have contributed to a limiting belief about yourself or your abilities in this area.

Step 3:

Once you’ve identified this moment, relive the experience fully in your head. Notice the sights, sounds, and sensations associated with it. Pay attention to any emotions or thoughts that arise.

Step 4:

You have the power to rewrite this memory in a way that empowers and supports you. Visualize yourself responding to the situation with confidence, resilience, and self-compassion. See yourself embodying the beliefs and qualities that you desire to possess.

Step 5:

As you reimagine this scene, allow yourself to fully feel the positive emotions associated with this new version of events. Notice how your body responds as you internalize this new story.

Step 6:

When you feel ready, open your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Reflect on how this exercise has shifted your perspective and notice any new thoughts or insights.

Studies have shown that vivid mental imagery activates the same neural networks as real-life experiences, allowing us to literally reshape our brains through the power of imagination.

Doing this repeatedly to build up your self-concept in alignment with your goals will make it a lot easier to "live in the end".

The reason why this works is because recalling a memory is a lot easier than imagining something that has never happened. It also creates a window of opportunity to modify or overwrite the original memory with new emotional associations. You can update the subconscious programming driving thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that way, and this can improve your visualizations about the future.

So I wouldn't say Neville Goddard is a scam. But if you're having trouble with his techniques, try something new and maybe revisit his techniques at a later time. There's no "one size fits all" approach and I think the danger is people thinking Neville Goddard is a scam just because they tried his stuff and it doesn't work right away.

He isn't you. When he wrote his books, he didn't have you in mind. So you might have to think about if specific areas in your life are giving you a lot of trouble, and then adapt to address the underlying causes for that first!
